Hopefully you have one of our 21 Day Fast booklets so you can really dive in because talking on these specific verses from the devotional:
Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.“
This is beautiful because as we go through this fast we are becoming living and holy sacrifices! Remember, we aren’t fasting just to say we do this or because this is how we start our year. We’re placing our bodies (our flesh) low and humbling ourselves. Notice in verse 1 it says when we present ourselves as a living and holy sacrifice it is acceptable to God AND it is our spiritual worship! This fast becomes worship unto the Lord, so for 9 days you have been worshipping the Lord! But here’s the thing, there are more fasts for dieting today than there are for spiritual reasons. Our abstaining from food, social media, etc. and replacing it with pursuit of Jesus is what makes it a living and holy sacrifice. Our minds should be transformed as we overcome the struggle in our desire for something natural to a hunger for Him.
