How many of you have ever cleaned windows? We can spend hours wiping and washing down one side but chances are the window won’t be clean. In order to see clearly through the window you must clean both the outside and the inside!
Matthew 23:25-28 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full [a]of robbery and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. So you, too, outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”
As you are fasting don’t find yourself getting caught up on outward appearance or outward works. Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal what needs cleansing internally. The Lord is able to purify you free from condemnation! For where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!
So, as we enter the last week of our fast tomorrow remind yourself of why you started. Draw near to Jesus and let Him finish the good work He started!
